When I founded Forge & Spark Media in 2012, I'd emerged, determined, from the wreckage of the magazine industry to help businesses tell their stories online.

I'd seen brands do crazy things back then, like publishing dead-boring websites that said nothing about their passions or real personality. Their "content" was cookie-cutter blogging and scheduled tweets.

When those brands applied the principles of good magazine storytelling to their businesses, using copy, social strategy and visual content, their business changed. Their customers took notice. And stuck around.

The idea is simple: a great story has clear perspective, strong writing, and compelling presentation. It piques the audience's attention. It makes them feel something real. Why shouldn't marketing content feel, and say something real, too?
